Here at Cartrefi Conwy we are committed to continually improving our approach to Equality Diversity and Inclusion.
Adrian Johnson, Group Cartrefi Conwy CEO said: “Real change starts with action, by committing to Deeds Not Words 2.0, we stand united in creating a housing sector that is anti-racist, fair, and driven by equity. We will stand up to racism and harmful narratives and through delivery of our QED action plan ensure we continue to make meaningful progress for all of our customers and communities“
Our aim is to ensure we treat people fairly, recognising people have different needs and views and enabling all to contribute. We want to take every opportunity to embrace and celebrate diversity and create a sense of belonging amongst our colleagues and within our communities.
To do that we are working with our colleagues, our tenants, and our key partners to develop our approach. Read on to find out more about several initiatives we are currently working on:
Quality in Equality and Diversity
We’re delighted to share that Cartrefi Conwy has been awarded our QED (Quality in Equality and Diversity) Award, becoming only the second housing association in North Wales to receive the accreditation.
Our QED Award recognises organisations that are committed to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) in everything they do – from how they support tenants to how they create an inclusive culture for colleagues. For Cartrefi Conwy, it’s a proud moment that highlights the positive work already happening and sets the stage for even more progress.
“Huge congratulations/llongyfarchiadau are due to Cartrefi Conwy on achieving the QED Award. It’s great to see another North Wales organisation leading the way in promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion.
Cartrefi Conwy has impressed us with their leadership and organisational culture, while their work on procurement following new legislation will drive inclusive practice. This award will serve as a catalyst for further progress over the next three years and beyond, and we are looking forward to supporting them on their journey.”

Perythyn – Housing Association Inclusion Group
We are active members of the Housing Association Inclusion Group Perthyn where we work collaboratively with key partners and other housing associations such as Adra, Clwyd Alyn, Grwp Cynefin, North Wales Housing and Wales and West to raise awareness, share learning, explore best practice, and focus on service improvements in respect of EDI across the sector.
Disability Confident Employer
We are proud to have been awarded the Disability Confident Employer accreditation, which supports employers to make the most of the talents people with disabilities can bring to the workplace. Over half of workplaces are missing out because they are excluding talented people with a disability. As a Disability Confident employer, we are committed to both themes and activities within the framework of ‘Getting the right people for our business’ and ‘Keeping and developing our people’.
Deeds Not Words
We are happy to continue to support Tai Pawb’s Deeds Not Words pledge following the relaunch of Deeds Not Words 2.0 (Pledge for 2025-2030.)
