We were incredibly moved and ecstatic to have won the Arts Business & the Community award at this year’s prestigious Arts and Business Wales Awards last week, for our Cadair Sgwrs art project. A well deserved win! Some of the other nominees in the category were NatWest Bank and Pendine Park.
The chair was created with the help of Cartrefi Conwy tenants and local schoolchildren, guided by top artist Catrin Williams and bespoke furniture maker Rhodri Owen.
The aim of the chair is to provide a central hub for people to gather, have a chat and fight loneliness and isolation. The chair was unveiled at the National Eisteddfod in Llanrwst last year when the Archdruid Myrddin ap Dafydd wrote a special englyn – a four-line strict metre verse – in praise of the project.
The intergenerational project was made possible by part-funding from Arts & Business Cymru’s CultureStep programme.
Well done to our tenants, our team, Catrin, Rhodri and everyone at Arts & Business Cymru for making this such a great success.
