Maximising our social impact – Sensory garden for local school children in Rhyl

Did you know that for every new Cartrefi Conwy development we provide a range of support, funding and projects that directly benefit the local community?

We thought we’d share some positive news about a community benefit project we’ve been working on with NWPS Construction.

NWPS and Cartrefi Conwy were given a brief to turn a neglected space near Ysgol Emmanuel in Rhyl into a sensory garden.

It was designed by Matt Stowe, our Environment Development Officer, and constructed by NWPS, with the schoolchildren selecting the planting themselves – with a little helping hand from our team.

School pupils have a five minute ‘sensory break’ built into their school timetable as an opportunity to visit the garden and ‘reset’ between lessons.

The garden was officially opened earlier this month by the Mayoress of Rhyl.
