Your Community Snapshot – October

Welcome to the October edition of ‘Your Community Snapshot’. Every month we will be sharing with you all the stories and the ‘characters’ that have made a difference in your community.

First up our we couldn’t celebrate Older Person’s Day in person with you all this year as usual, But what a lovely uplifting session we’ve had online together with all our older tenants. Thank you to all of our tenants that joined us and we hope to all meet again in person very soon (hopefully still wearing the hats)

Work has started on the first new council homes to be designed and built for the Denbighshire area in 30 years.

The low carbon homes, which will be built and certified to the energy-efficient Passivhaus standard, are part of the Council’s target to provide 170 more council houses by 2022.

The frames and walls for the new houses will be made off site in North Wales by Creating Enterprise, using the Beattie Passive Build system and the main contractor for the development is Brenig Construction.

Our Community Involvement team had lots of fun with our tenants taking part in electric biking taster sessions 🚲 Here’s what our tenant Sharon had to say about her day…

We are building eco-friendly homes to a Passivhaus standard, using the Beattie Passive build system. Creating Enterprise Beattie Passive Self Build

Great job completed by Creating Enterprise on our behalf on another empty home. This scheme is all about taking vacant properties and bringing them up to quality standard and providing much needed local housing.

Dion, contracts manager for Creating Enterprise showed us around another great looking refurbished property from our Empty Homes Scheme.

Chester Avenue Green Fingers Group met to do some socially distanced planting of some winter flowering pansies and heathers to spruce up the garden around the community centre. They then had a relaxing coffee, cake and a catch up in the tidy garden. Well done guys!

We’re incredibly proud to have our tenant Daniel working on our Glanrafon development in Llanrwst, employed through Creating Enterprise Employment Academy!

This is the very first time Daniel will be working in construction and he’s excited to get stuck in 💪 the maisonettes will be demolished to make way for 12 state of the art, Passivhaus family homes and he’ll not only see the progress from start to finish from his home 🏠 but he will also be part of team as well!
