Cartrefi Conwy Housing Association has awarded £15,674 in community grants to local organisations and grassroots sports groups, helping people of all ages feel supported, connected and included.
From children pulling on their first sports kit, to families accessing food support, to communities coming together through creative and social activities, the funding is already making a meaningful difference to everyday lives.
One of the groups supported, Llais Lle, used their grant to enhance the local community space by installing a new picnic table just outside Pendalar Play Park. This project has created a welcoming spot for residents and visitors to relax and enjoy the outdoors.
“A big THANK YOU to Cartrefi Conwy and our lovely town council for funding our new picnic table just outside Pendalar Play. It’s a wonderful spot and I’m sure it will be well used by local residents and visitors!”

Meanwhile, Aberconwy Care and Share has been able to continue monthly deliveries of food and essential items to families facing food poverty.
“The food is very important to our family but its not just the food.’’
“We had a lot of extra bills last month and care and share were a lifeline to us.’’
Grants have also supported projects that bring communities together in creative and practical ways, including intergenerational activities with Fomz Kids, and the rebuilding of a community garden at Ty Llywellyn, giving tenants and children a shared space to enjoy. Additional grants were awarded to Llanrwst Girl Guiding, Prom Ally, Aberconwy Domestic Abuse Service, Capel Curig Events, Cylch Meithrin Awel y Mynydd, Together for Colwyn Bay, Llandudno Football Club, Erias Hockey, Ty Gobaith, Abergele Bowling Club, Colwyn Bay Rugby Club, Abergele Morris Dancing, Crueddyn School and Colwyn Bay Walking Club.
Grassroots sport has been another key focus. Young players at Colwyn Bay Rugby Under 7s and children attending clubs at Ty Llywellyn Community Centre have received new kit, helping them feel part of a team while encouraging healthy, active lifestyles.
Sharon Jones, Director of Partnerships at Cartrefi Conwy, said:
“These grants are about much more than funding, they’re about people. Every project we support helps strengthen communities, whether that’s by reducing isolation, supporting families through hardship, or giving children positive opportunities to grow and thrive.”

Cartrefi Conwy is keen to hear from other local groups who could benefit from future funding rounds.
“If you’re a community organisation with an idea that could make a difference locally, we’d really encourage you to apply,” Sharon added.
