Your Community Snapshot – August

Welcome to the ‘Your Community Snapshot’ blog for August. Every month we will be sharing with you all the stories and the ‘characters’ that have made a difference in your community.

First up, Tenants at the Fron were invited to star in the ‘Imagine Bae Colwyn’ digital heritage trail film and brought their memories of Colwyn Bay to life.

TAPE Community Music and Film in Old Colwyn are producing the trail that will bring characters, buildings and moments in history to life through personal reflections, animation, sound, artwork and the written word.

Thanks to our tenants for taking part and can’t wait to see it!

Karen, a member of our Chester Avenue Green Fingers group in Kinmel Bay has been working hard planting wonderful flowers at the community house over the last month. She is getting it looking nice and tidy in readiness for when we are able to organise outdoor meetings and events again.

Work has been progressing well over at our Gloddaeth Street development in Llandudno. We spoke to Danny on site who was busy plastering when we said hello. We are incredibly proud of Danny who was recently offered a full-time job at Brenig Construction, following on from his 12 month contract through the Creating Futures Employment Academy at Creating Enterprise. This development will see 12 new two-bedroom apartments in the heart of Llandudno. Only 48 rooms left for you to plaster Danny – keep up the great work!

Lydia and Meg from our Community Involvement team have been busy running their online ‘Arty August’ sessions with our tenants, including a Family Art session and Creative and Vision Boarding Sessions.

At our online vision boarding session with Jasmine from Creating Enterprise, tenants were asked to put their hopes and dreams down on a board to inspire them to plan for their future, beyond the current pandemic. Here’s a great example by one of our tenants Helen, who said she and her daughter “really enjoyed the sessions” and are showing a real flair for creativity.

Our recent online ‘Creative Art session’ was a great success. Tenants were asked to create an ‘Aspirational’ painting using leaves. The session was led by Lisa Lochhead of Lisa Lochhead Artistry and Design. One tenant told us “It was great to see everyone and a very fulfilling time spent. Thanks to Lisa and all”.
