Glanrafon Regeneration Update

Over the last couple of years we have been looking at Glanrafon from a long term financial view and listening to the views of tenants that live

there. So using our housing expertise we did some research to find out what type of housing we need for Glanrafon.


This helped us reach a decision, with tenants to:

Demolish the main block of maisonettes.

Keep the other five blocks of flats.

 

As part of the Rhodfa Phil Evans development, we made some improvements to the existing flats. This work included:

  • Refurbishing the communal entrances in each block.
      • Installed external wall insulation along with new render and pebble dash.
  • Redesigned rear external areas to improve storage and access to the rear of the homes
  • We are also currently installing new level access to three of the blocks.
  • Closing in the flights of stairs and adding a secure door entry system
  • Renewed roofs.
  • Changed the design of the windows
  • On-going improvements to the outside space and existing children’s play space which is at the heart of the site.

These homes will be built using a ground-breaking modular build construction method. The design provides high quality houses that are flexible and fast to build.

 

The homes will be built with:

  • the highest levels of technical performance
  • low running costs
  • a healthy, comfortable living environment
  • superior levels of sound and fire protection

We thank tenants for talking to us about the improvements. We shared what you told us with our architects and this helped them with their design plans.


Re-developing the maisonettes block

We have planning approval to demolish the maisonettes block and build 12 new family homes. The development will include a mix of 3 and 4 bedroom family homes with gardens and off road car parking space.


Making better use of shared outside space

We have big plans for the new play space at Glanrafon.

We want to make this green space welcoming, fun and creative following feedback from our consultation packs.
